How private sales work on GunEx

Short version: GunEx is a Canadian firearms marketplace board. You write a listing, buyers message you, and the legal transfer stays between you, the buyer, and the Canadian Firearms Program. That is the same split as other classifieds Canadians already use.

This page is the "what we do / don't do" post so nobody has to infer it from marketing copy.

What GunEx does

• Hosts listings for legal firearms, ammunition, accessories, parts, and archery gear permitted for civilian ownership in Canada (see community guidelines)
• Helps buyers search by make/model and browse FRT (RCMP Firearms Reference Table) records
• Shows asking-price midpoints on /guns when enough comparable posts exist
• Gives you a public URL for your ad and a way for interested buyers to contact you through the product

What GunEx does not do

• Verify anyone’s PAL or RPAL
• Request or issue a CFP reference number (non-restricted) or transfer number (restricted)
• Update registration certificates
• Provide escrow, payment protection, or shipping
• Promise buyer volume, sale speed, or that "people are waiting"

Fees

Creating an account and browsing is free. Basic personal listings are free within current limits. High-volume or business use may have different pricing. The live wording is on the FAQ and in your account dashboard — check there rather than trusting a blog post if pricing changes.

Restricted and handguns

You can only list what you can legally transfer. Restricted transfers follow a different CFP process than non-restricted. Handgun transfers to new individual owners are limited under current rules. Read selling restricted vs non-restricted before you advertise something you cannot complete.

Why list here at all

GunEx is early. Native supply is still thin. The useful reasons to list are specific: FRT-backed model pages, asking-price context when the sample exists, and a quieter inbox than the largest national classifieds — not a claim that GunEx has "won" the market.

If you want buyers who already live on GunPost or CGN, keep listing there. Parallel listings are normal.
